I don’t have a traditional makeup table so it’s gets covered with makeup regularly. I needed to get some kind of organization going so I decided to make my own holders. I got two plain white mugs from the dollar store and went to work.
The first thing you need is oil based Sharpies. This is important, regular Sharpies are not going to do it. I bought mine off of Amazon. They were not expensive at all, you can find them here. There is a step to get the markers ink flowing, do that before drawing on the mugs. Once you have your Sharpies and your mugs, get some cotton balls and some rubbing alcohol and you are ready to go.
Start by washing and drying your mugs with dish soap. Then wipe down all outside surfaces with the rubbing alcohol. Once the mugs are dry, you can start drawing. Get as creative as you want and if you make any mistakes, just wipe it away with the rubbing alcohol and start over. I used black, gold, silver and red to make my designs.
Once you are happy with your design, let it sit and dry for a few hours. Put your mugs upside down on a cookie sheet and put into a cold oven. Then preheat to 425. Once the oven is fully heated, bake for 30 minutes, then shut the oven off and let the mugs cool in the oven. After about an hour, remove. The design will be baked on and ready to use. These mugs need to be hand washed. Don’t throw them in the dishwasher or your design will be ruined.
