So I finally go to watch the season premiere of Sons of Anarchy last night and thanks to some blabbing on Facebook (Side note: don’t be that guy who puts spoilers all over the internet without warning when an episode ends. You make more enemies than friends.) I already had a gist of what was going to happen. Stop reading now if you have not watched the season six premiere of SOA.
There are certain days where you pause and take stock of your life. You look back at the person you were then and the person you have become over time after various experiences and life changes. Yesterday was that day for me.
Ten years ago on September 9, 2003 I started dating the man who would eventually become my husband.
I love this recipe so much. It’s so easy to prepare and cook. I usually buy a bag of frozen tilapia individually wrapped by the bag. This recipe works for both defrosted or fresh fish. This is something that every time you have this, the first bite is just amazing every time. The marinade complements the fish perfectly. [Read more…]
I noticed it today as I was driving home from work. The air had changed. It is something I notice every year around this time, the air gets this crispness to it. You can actually smell fall arriving. Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE summer! The whole season is warm and relaxed. The term “summer state of mind” is very true when you’re sitting outside at night watching the sun slowly set feeling like you have all the time in the world. But there is something about fall. Here are my top ten reasons why I enjoy this season so much: [Read more…]
This is something I wish I discovered so much sooner! Crispy avocado is like an explosion of awesomeness in your mouth, it is great as a salad topping or as just an appetizer before a meal. This is such an amazingly simple thing but it tastes great! [Read more…]
There is a time when you child is just learning how to talk when you are sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for that wonderful word to leave his lips….”Mama”. That day came about a year ago and I still love to hear the word but there are days that make me wish my son came with a mute button.
Here is a conversation that replayed itself about seven times this weekend;
I’ll admit it. I had no idea who Ree Drummond was until I was channel surfing one Saturday morning and saw a show on The Food Network called The Pioneer Woman. I was hooked pretty quickly. She was so real and was making food that people without a Masters in Iron Chef could easy do in the kitchen. After the show I went online and looked up her site and I was hooked ever since.
Since she has been blogging for a few years now, her site has grown into quite a large place now but she still writes like she did in the beginning. Her husband, Marlboro Man, also pops on and talks about life on the ranch and how to care for the animals.

Ree has done what most bloggers dream about, becoming successful by being herself!

I am an American woman living in a small town in the northeast of the United States. I want to tell you how sorry, sad, ashamed and angry I am at the death of one of your countrymen when he was doing something that should have been enjoyable: visiting our country to play baseball. Baseball is our national pastime. It is something that makes us think of summer and long nights and happy times.
But thanks to some “bored” teenagers in Oklahoma, the image of our country has become a symbol of warning and fear.
I want to tell you that this is NOT the United States that those of us that live here want to live in. We don’t want to be known for irresponsible gun laws or horrific school shootings. I’m embarrassed that the former Australian Prime Minister Tim Fischer is telling Australians to use caution when visiting our country. This used to be a country of reason and order and I want it back.
There has been controversy between both sides over the gun laws that we have. It is in our Constitution that we have the right to bear arms, unfortunately the NRA took that right and bribed their way through Washington so even the slightest change to a gun law became a fight to the death. I ask of Australia to please not associate the NRA and their public quotes with most gun owners in the United States. After the Sandy Hook, CT school shooting, the NRA made a statement that school teachers should be armed. I was not the only one to be absolutely offended by that statement.
I please ask of you to not judge our entire country based on the idiotic and callous actions of three young men. We are a country of people who work hard, who try to raise good-hearted children, who appreciate our roots and where we came from. We may be in turmoil, but for every bad seed there are 1000 more good flowers overtaking it.
We are mourning Christopher Lane and the lost of life, talent and grace with it.
Are you a fan of Zooey Deschanel? I know I am. New Girl is one of my favorite shows on TV and one of the few that I watch live and not on my DVR later. Well, Zooey has a fantastically fun website called Hello Giggles!
While technically this isn’t really a blog, it still gets major points. This website has a little bit of everything; thought provoking articles, funny videos, beauty tips. I highly recommend the article “Everything I Need to Know I Learned from The Simpsons“. There is a lot of Simpson love on this site, which may make me a bit bias. There will be a blog post in the near future about how much that show has influenced my life, friendships and sense of humor, but I digress.
Go to this website when you have time to waste because you will sucked in and it will be hard to pull yourself away from the awesomeness that is Zooey Deschanel on the internet!

This is something I like to throw together once in awhile, it versatile with the toppings and delicious
It’s a mix between tradional enchiladas and a layered lasagna. You can add the toppings you would like too; salsa, sour cream, jalapeños, whatever you like! [Read more…]
